Tire change question
Hello all. It's been a long time since I've changed a tire ( none on an RV). I'm changing a flat tomorrow and I'm not sure where to place the jack. I have a reflection 260 rd and the flat is in the rear axle, passenger side. Also, is it safe to leave the RV jacked up with the tire off while I get the tire repaired. I'm parked in an RV park. Thanks for the help on basic questions.

I jack mine up with the jack on the U-bolts that secure the spring pack to the axle.
Safe is a relative term, it's unlikely to fall, but that doesn't count for much if it does. I would support it with a jack stand if I was leaving
it, just to be on the safe side. Just a kind of insurance.Howard and Peggy

Thanks Hoopy. Also I forgot to ask, the
gross weight is close to 10,000 lbs. What weight level should the jack be able to support?

I carry a 20 ton bottle jack. A 10 ton might work, but why take a chance. It sure seems like a 3 ton would be enough, but take it
from me, they aren't. And make sure it will fit under the area you're going to jack if the tire is flat.
The Andersen Rapid Jack type lifts seem to be very popular, but I'm old school. Whatever works is what I figure.Howard and Peggy

I struggled when I had flat to find right combination of wooden blocks to lift camper tire off ground with bottle jack. Bought this double ram bottle jack from Northern Tool and it solved the problem.

Wow.... this was VERY helpful... I went to pick up my 337RLS from storage, and the left rear tire was FLAT... I had no idea what to do... tried calling for a mobile tire shop... no luck... came home, searched the forum and found your solution... I looked on-line and found one at Murdoch's, went and bought it plus a torque wrench... I, and the storage lot manager were able to use the Andersen Rapid Jack and took the tire off and put on the spare... not an easy task in 95+ temps, but done... now tomorrow morning (Mon), head to the tire dealer to either see if it can be fixed (I see a nail in it) or just purchase a new time... and then fight with the extra tire warranty folks that I have a contract with... that should be fun (LOL)... but now I have the Anderson Rapid Jack for any unforeseen issues in the future... thanks to you! Worth every penny, as I would imagine any mobile tire repair company would charge $400-500 to come out. Next time to do is to sign up with Good Sam for their platinum road hazard plan... probably another well spent cost for the future...
