    More newbie questions

    2017 303rls
Has one battery, just replaced. Have read and heard that the unit doesn’t have an official battery charger and only trickle charges but the manual for the WFCO WF-9800 states “bulk mode the output voltage of the converter will switch to 14.4 v for 4 hours”. Can someone explain what all this means? Do I need a battery charger? Do I need another battery in parallel? Will probably only dry camp a few times.
    Thanks for all replies

Your WFCO will charge your battery and when charged, will keep it charged. It's not the best of chargers but it does get the job done. When/if it fails, then I would replace with a better quality one. The bulk mode sends more voltage to the battery to get it charged quicker. If you do plan on dry camping, even it it's just here and there then I would add another. Or you can always upgrade to a different type then LA, like AGM or dual 6volts or the better but most expensive lifepo4 (lithium).

My opinion would be to definitely add a second battery if you plan on dry camping at all. When we moved to the fifth wheel from a smaller bumper pull, I was amazed at how much the batteries drain in a day. We dry camp for ten days in the summer and I run my generator every day to keep the batteries topped off. Consider that your leveling system will not work properly with low batteries.

Another option that will increase you ah is going with 2 6 volt batteries in series to make 12 volt. Click image for larger version.

Awesome, thank you. Any chance you could zoom in on the instructions as I couldn’t make them out? Also in this set up does the charger charge both batteries at once?

Connect the positive from battery A to positive on battery B. Negative from battery A to negative on battery B. Positive from battery A to RV and negative from battery B to RV.
