Towing a fifth wheel now, but for six years towed a 30' TT. Just used factory hitch on my Ford. Being a F350 dually I had no reason for levelers or sway bars.

I had a Reese sway control pulling my 28' Jayco for years and it worked fine. When I moved to the 308, I upgraded to the E2 Fastway hitch for the reason of solid lift bars without the chains. A friend of mine recommended it, and it has been great so far (pulled around 1200 miles this year so far).

Blue Ox Swaypro 1500 for a 313rlts. Bought it based on ease of hookup, no noise from the hitch, and you don't have to un hook to back up.

ProPride hitch. Eliminates sway, or even possibility of sway. Truely does tow like a fifth wheel. Expensive, but wind, trucks, road condition, etc will not be a problem insofar as towing is concerned. Not everyone's cup of tea, but worth it to me. Pulled in 30+ cross wind last weekend. Wind messed with trailer-truck unit, like it would with your truck sans trailer, but no sway at all. Previously had the Blue Ox Swaypro, for the same reasons as Lambchop.

    Equalizer!

I started out with a Reese dual cam hitch 25 years ago. Then I tried a Equalizer hitch in about 1995 when I bought a larger TT and I have used nothing else since. I have used different sizes over the years, I now have a 12,000lb. hitch with the 2.5" shank to fit my new F-350 so I don't have to use that silly spacer. Some of the reasons that I like the Equalizer is - simple, durable, no chains, can back up with it, leave the bars on when I unhook, just fold them around to the bumper and it works! Yes it does creak and groan some when making sharp turns at slow speeds, however with proper lubrication this is minimal. I have towed large travel trailers in 45 of the lower 48 states several times over the years in all types of weather conditions and have never had an issue! Proper head and bar adjustment is the key to trouble - free towing with any hitch! I see trailers going down the road nose high, nose low, tow vehicle tail low and I say to my Wife, I sure am glad I'm not driving that thing! I am very precise when I set my hitch up. When you see my rig going down the road, it will be very close to level, both truck and trailer.

I use the Andersen hitch because of how it functions, the low cost and ease of installing and removing, I wouldn't use anything else.

My ONLY problem with the andersen is that I'm a short bed with a wide trailer, and a u turn to back into my yard when I park. Soooo, I use a B&W Companion slider. It's everything that the Andersen isn't. It's expensive, it's heavy, and it works amazingly well. Until I know that the Andersen will work for me, I am stuck with my B&W.

I think you guys missed the original question . . . the OP is looking for advice on a TT hitch . . . not 5th wheel.

I stick to my other post as I had an Andersen hitch for my TT as well.
