The power source has nothing to do with whether the AC will work on high or not. Cooling modes are called from the thermostat and the signals are interpreted and acted upon by a control board in the AC on the roof. If you're comfortable doing it, you can pull the cover on the thermostat and make sure all the wires are firmly connected (they're 12VDC - not 120VAC). You don't say what year your RV is, but if it's under warranty, you should get your dealer involved.

I see you're relatively new to posting - welcome! You can create a signature block with your RV and tow vehicle information (see mine below). That way you won't have to repeat that information whenever you post or ask a question - and others won't have to ask. You can create a signature by going to:

You won't need to go on the roof to check the wires in the thermostat, just pull the cover off of the wall thermostat and check that they are all tight.

If this does not work, you may need to go onto the roof and check the t-stat wires are also tight on the unit. Be sure the 120 volt is turned off before opening the cover of the A/C unit.

    Kelly,

Climbing on the roof to check connections is the LAST thing to do.

First, pull the thermostat and verify all wires are tightly connected.

Second, pull the cover on the ceiling vent and verify all wires are securely connected. Be careful because there’s a Romeo 120;vac cable there also. That cable sound not be an issue but the smaller dc wires is what to check.

Here’s a link to acColman thermostat wiring. You can see that there are 2 fan motor connections, low and high.

I had that problem. It surfaced after 3 years of use. Turned out to be bad crimps where T-stat wire connected in the AC unit (all accessible from inside by dropping cover).
