    Glacier NP

    We are so hoping to see GNP this September but I fear the all the fires and smoke will mess up the views. I'm tracking smoke and fire maps daily and it does not look promising unless the west gets a lot rain to tamp down the fires...
    Has anyone here been there very recently and if so, how was it?

    We have been in Great Falls since 7-01... 100 miles southeast of Browning Mt...your assessment is correct... with a strong westerly wind visibility is poor... Winds from the east not so bad.... We usually spend spend part of September in Idaho Panhandle, but not this year!

    We are in Kalispell now; been here since Friday.

    No smoke now. Just clouds and rain.

    Bad smoke until Tuesday when it rained. Now nice and cool and just dodging a few showers.

    Hiked Monday - got a bit choked up on smoke.

    Hiked Avalanche Trail today - BUSY & CROWDED but no smoke - great hike.

    Drove from W Glacier to Logan today too - nice. Overcast, nice clouds but mostly clear.

    Will leave Monday for E Glacier.

    oh - busy. We blew off a reserved Red Bus tour. To enclosed for us. Masked are supposed to be mandatory now but…..

    Great day today on Going To The Sun Road from the east side all the way up to Logan.

    No smoke. Cold last night (37 degrees). Nice today, high 60's; cloudy at first but cleared to mostly sunny. Unlimited views with some haze (not sure if smoke or low clouds, but no smoke smell.

    Will be at Two Medicine tomorrow.
    @Grandesigner
    I hope you don't change your plans and still plan to visit GNP. Any smoke around here is from some fires up in Canada. Not much you can do about it. We haven't seen any reports of smoke from any news reports.

    Thinking about going up there even if smoke is 50/50 on a daily basis. On smokey days we can just fish and on clear days go sight seeing and hiking. Any good fishing around there?
