rv890 GPS mounting and case questions

This unit is so far ahead of my old Nuvi 765T it isn't funny.

Android based, customizable home screen and on and on.

Anyway, anyone have good tips on a hard case and mounting in the dash tray of my Ford 2017. Sits perfectly matching the front edge but either needs screwing down or plexyglass?

    Thoughts, pics and links welcomed.

    Thanks

I don't know about a case since I think it wouldn't work with the magnetics, but I'm installing a Builtright Industries plate for the top tray to mount the 890 to. Going to try and install a tablet mount there, too.

I cut a piece of clear Lexan to fit in the dash tray and glued some thick black rubber to the underside. The Garmin RV 760, TPMS, and rear camera monitor mount nicely on it.

Rob and I think alike..... I Velcro'ed a piece of plexiglas to the bottom of that well in the middle of the dash then attached another piece to span the front top of the opening where I stick my 760.

This is prior to the 760 change but shows how I had mounted some other things originally.

I’m almost embarrassed to say… I cut a piece out of an inexpensive black rubber door mat. It was available and non-skid.

What holds this down? I thought you glued it to dash tray? I can put some rubber under the front lip where Garmin can rest on the dash while the holder is in the tray. The 890 fits across enrire front of the tray. I just wondered if the plexiglass itself is enough, or have to attach that to tray?

I guess you're asking me, Jim? The tray on my 2012 F350 is quite a bit wider than what I've seen in the newer trucks (I don't know what truck you have) and the RV 760 is not as wide as the latest Garmin RV GPSs. I use a Garmin friction mount for the GPS:

and the suction cup mounts for the TPMS and rear camera monitors. The weight of everything keeps things in place pretty well - on a really rough road, the whole thing scoots forward a bit. I might try the Velcro idea from @traveldawg when I get the time, though (replacing the rubber door mat).

    On mine:
a plexiglass piece as big as the base of the well is velcro'ed to the bottom of the well; probably with 2 1" wide strips. It isn't coming loose. I have 2 MPOW magnetic arms screwed into that piece on the bottom; the suction cups kept coming loose.

Then I mounted a plexiglass piece that spans the width of the front of the well 1/2 to 1/3 of the length of that well. That is screwed into a piece of wood that also screws to the bottom piece. And then the top piece of plexiglass is also velcro'ed to the dash.

I thought I needed something for the 760 to rest on but it holds just find in it's magnetic holder which is suction cupped to the top plexiglass piece.
