Airxcell Thermostat Reads 99F When Cooling

The main thermostat by the door reads the temperature normally when nothing is operating. If I set it to cooling the room temp stays where it was for a few seconds, then the display flashes off and on a few times then the display goes to 99 F and stays there as long as I am in the cooling mode.

I replaced the unit with a new one and it does the same thing.

    Any ideas?

I think they are supposed to display ambient unless you move the temp up/down button or the mode button.

Agree with above, unless you know it is below that temp. If it is, then you may have a short in the temp sensor circuit.

That is a true statement but as I said mine doesn’t do that. After a few seconds of flashing the ambient temperature reading jumps from the actual temperature to 99F and stays there.

I did a bit of sleuthing and came up with a couple of possibilities.

    1. Maybe try to reset it
    2. Potential bad temp sensor in thermostat
    3. Try wiggling the temperature buttons and see if it changes. If it does, possible short in the buttons

You have a defective thermostat. It should display settings when any button is pressed once and then revert to displaying ambient temperature.
Every problem is not caused by a "short". A short will trip the fuse/circuit breaker.

I had the dealer replace the thermostat while the rig was in for some other warranty stuff. I had never checked the wiring before which I did this morning. It was wired incorrectly with one of the AC leads going to a remote sense terminal. All is well now.

    Thanks for the inputs.
