It looks like double stick tape to me. In fact your second picture, I believe you can see the tape. There are screws underneath, at least from what I can tell, so you want to be able to pull it off. I would go with a good double sided tape.

This is the first one I have seen fall off. Send this picture to GD, just the fact it fell during transit , who knows what got jarred loose. They may offer up a new fireplace . Not sure I'd take their advice on adhesive tapes if they are the ones who chose the tape ans. put the face on

We had the same problem with our former Rockwood 5th wheel. Someone suggested Mirror Clips. So after a few dealers telling us we had to order new brackets and no idea when they would get them. We said lets try it and we put 2 on top and it worked cost .52cents. With your situation why not try 2 on top and 2 on bottom. No promises but worth a try.
