+1. Its going to be a buyers market for sure. I have many colleagues at my work place never even camped in them. Gently used is an understatment. Its going to be ugly when the economy goes into recession and people can't make payments. One of the project managers came up and asked me if I could show them how to dump the tanks properly in their 5th wheel, as they purchased a camper in 2020 and just camped in it for the first time the weekend before. They never dumped the tanks, as they didn't know how. After one trip, they are selling the truck and 5th wheel as a "package deal". They went out and bought a brand new 1-ton and 5th wheel and used it once.

Its going to be interesting when RV sales numbers come out for 2021. Here is the historical data.

Are there more RV being sold in 2021 or is there just a buying frenzy caused by the lack of inventory?

Then you have the people that have been on the sidelines waiting to buy but now thinking buy now because prices are escalating due to the inventory shortage and the out-of-control inflation situation we are currently in.

    Interesting RVIA quarterly Forecast below.

Personally, I think this goes hand-in-hand with the WFH lifestyle changes and the shortage of both houses and rentals. If people think RVs are expensive, try pricing a house. I was in the clinic last week and talking with the check in nurse. She's living in an RV at a small 10 RV park with her 6 kids (that I can't imagine). Her neighbor, also a nurse, lives with her 5 kids in the RV next to her.

If the forecasts are anywhere close to the projected 30% increase in deliveries for 2021, there must be a market waiting for new units.

I agree with the cost of living increases, especially the rise in house prices and renting. My house doubled in price just in the past few years and it's out in the countryside not even near a big city. I have noticed more and more people living in RV's. It kind of makes sense because you can still buy vacant land cheap in many states so all you need is power, water and a septic tank. Before living in RV's it was buying Modular Homes & PreFab Homes but now many can't even afford those. Just look at the escalation in homelessness.

I think that 2022 30% increase in RV deliveries is wildly over optimistic. Economists were saying the economy would roar back after the nations businesses reopened but that never happened and there is no indication its going to happen any time soon. Many stock marker experts have been projecting a big dip before the end of the year. It almost happened the other day when the dow was down almost 1000 points but calmer heads brought it back.

Many communities have ordinances against living in trailers in their communities. The also restrict mobile homes and modular homes unless they are in a MHP. HOA's also have rules against them. Another thought is if you are looking at a piece of property with no hook ups it could cost a lot to get that property prepped.

Depending on the location. Here in rural Tennessee we don't see many HOA's except maybe in the large cities. Many live in trailers and modular homes out in the countryside on property they purchased. Vacant land can be had as low as a few grand per acre if you know what your doing. Some vacant land already has utilities lines and septic tank where an old trailer or house once stood. Getting power and water is really not that expensive, especially if power and water lines already run down the street. Septic tank is probably the most costly but where I live it's about 5-7K for a 3 bedroom home. It could all be done for under 10k.

Walking through a few new rv's this summer at a local dealer holding an open house, the DW and I noticed many "trim" issues that were not correct (eg: crooked window dressings, loose corner trim, door trim coming off) Just a general appearance like they had been "thrown together" with little care for it being done correctly. We both were finding things that appeared to have been done sloppy.
She had mentioned how we need to look for a fiver with a little more room than our current camper. The campers we looked at helped me convince we need to wait until "things calm down" to consider a the purchase of a new camper.
