    Grand design imagine 17mke

I have a 2021 ford ranger with included better turbo cooling and better towing suspension can I tow the Grand design imagine 17mke with no problem my max weight is 600 on bumper and 7000 gross trailer weight I would hate to buy the camper and it be too much of a wind dam for the ranger

A 17mke will be 600 lbs on the hitch before you put any of your stuff in it

It is impossible to say you won’t have any issues

Have you ever towed a travel trailer before?

I have towed heavy equipment in the past with air brakes I'm looking at buying my first 4 season camper what the specs on the trailer shows is 480lb tongue weight and 4700lb dry weight I also have a deeper then stock trans pan for added cooling I little worried I will be pushing its limits and definitely would add a trans temp gauge before pulling far I wanted to ask here before I purchased the camper thanks for replying

It is 480 plus when it leaves the factory but then the dealer will add 40 lbs of propane and a heavy battery

Once loaded a 17mke will be over 700 lbs or at least should be for a positive towing experience then of course a hitch will weigh 80 lbs plus

So there is a good chance you will be over the specs that Ford prints

Only you can make the decision to be over the ratings

It isn’t always about power to pull it is about ability to carry which is more important

Unlikely imo you will enjoy towing it. Completely different feeling towing a high wall trailer vs an equipment trailer
I know the Nissan Frontier, similar truck, has a frontal area limitation of 50 square feet. I don’t know if Ford posts a limitation. These trailers are over 80 square feet

What type of camper are you btw? Plan to travel or just a local campground camper?

Well dern yeah the 600 lb tongue makes the ranger sit level I wanted a tandem axle travel trailer to haul to the Midwest and back itleast once I have trailer brakes installed and I worry about the high front air dam the most but it's such a great design I love it im wanting a 4 season camper and they are hard to find after all is said in done it will probably only be towed to the beach and the mountains every so often I'm in the piedmont of North Carolina thanks for your help

I am currently towing a 2024 17mke with my 2024 Nissan Fontier pro4x with weight dist. hitch. It actually towes pretty good. It's only my wife and myself and we watch what we carry incase. I actually felt more sway when we took it for storage, less weight other then that had no issues on our 1st outing

Some but not terrible. We took it to the Finger Lakes in NY, 3 hrs from home. Took back roads with alot of hills and it towed fine. On the highway home it seemed to handle fine. Every time a tractor trailer passed felt some push

    Thread moved to tow vehicles.

The Imagine series trailers are far from four-seasons campers...
