Watchdog Surge Protector review

We replaced the old surge protector this summer with the Hughes Watchdog 30 amp. The old plugs had damage from heat/poor connections.

Initially, the idea of a "smart" or connected surge devise was not appealing. I downloaded their app anyway. The app provides real time wattage and voltage.

When the campground power dropped to 109 volts, the surge protector cut the power (good) and poof! I have a notification on my phone and was able to reset from inside the camper. Very nice with all the August rain in Michigan.

Pros:
Replaceable "spike module" free for the first 2 years and then $20-$35!

Logo light on the unit is very visible

I have the 50Amp version. I also had it shut off the power to the rig when the voltage dropped. So far I like it.
The neighbors little dog kept barking at it though. Not sure if it was the light or the shape.
I have been asked a lot of questions about it by passers-by out walking right before sunset.
I guess it gets a lot of attention. That could be good and bad.
I do have a cable lock for it to help keep people honest.
I like the blue-tooth connection as well.
