There was just another post about the plugs in the low point drain lines... here's what I did on mine.
Read my post below and others on that same thread

Very easy - No cutting required - I added these, I like the longer handles!

@Cowboychincs
Hard to tell who you are asking questions without hitting "reply with quote" or "@------" using the persons forum name like I did above.
If you're referring to my valves on the low point drain lines I used (2) pieces of 1⅝" aluminum unistrut and a piece of aluminum angle, (2) brass PEX hose bibs, (2) brass PEX couplings, some crimp rings , and (2) short pieces of PEX tubing. I bolted the unistrut to the frame right next to the sewage drain pipe, stacked one on top of the other, and added the angle that I predrilled and mounted the hose bibs to it. Cut the old plugs off and added the short pieces of PEX to reach the valves. Using the hose bibs makes it easier to drain the antifreeze into a container and not all over my concrete pad.Bill & Colleen ~ Schwenksville, Pa

What are these nipples you refer too? Some sort of male to male adapter? (I am not a plumber.)
I was actually thinking about trying garden hose shutoff valves. I think the threads are the same as what the factory plug uses. Good or bad idea?

The nipples are just "close nipples" that are male thread on each end... The valves he used have female ends (internal threads) and can be purchased in brass or PVC.
I went with brass garden hose valves that are made for 1/2" PEX pipe. I extended the low point drains a little and attached them to the valves mounted on an aluminum bracket. See my post #11 above or back on another page for more info.Bill & Colleen ~ Schwenksville, Pa
