    Lightbulb Personalized Lighting

The light over the sofa/recliners and over the bed were bright enough to blind you. Style was also lacking. When I started to look for replacements, I could not find any 12vdc that I liked. Ended up on Amazon, of course, and found many fixtures but they were not 12vdc. My criteria required that I use the existing single hole wiring in the trailer; no new holes or fishing wires. I also wanted at least 2 lights, directional, and dimmable, so that each person could control their own environment. Not too much to ask!

Solultion: Decorative multi-light units. Many come matching in 2, 4, 6 light styles. Bought a 2 light fixture and 4 light fixture. Most are not 12v, so make sure you get the units with actual bulbs that are replaceable because you are going to need to actually remove the bulbs and sockets. Now you will need to buy the sockets and matching light bulbs that are 12vdc, and 2 compatible dimmers for each unit (4). I also bought the WAGU wire connectors. You are going to have lots of connecting and errors. These simply matters.

You will need to completely strip out lights and install the new sockets. (No, I could not find any easy to use adapters for this project.) You will need to rewire as 2 independent light units, each side with its own on/off/dimmer control. The fixtures were remounted in previous fixture's holes. The dimmers had to have a new hole cut next to each side of fixture.

I am not an electrician. This was not an easy project but I love the results. It helps to be OCD. Took about a month to do. I can keep the light on my side of the bed or sofa turned on/dimmed and my hubby can turn his off.

A couple of pictures would be great. Sounds like you did a lot to get the lighting you want. I am trying to come up with something for over our dining table and recliners.

I installed these (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1) over on each side of the bed behind our heads so that we aren't blinded by the light above our books when trying to read. Someone wasn't really thinking when they designed some of the lighting in our TT. They didn't put a light over the dinette so I installed a single light under the TV cabinet - found the same brand and model as the OEM on Amazon. We're happy with them. Now, I do need to replace that dual light over the sofa. They should have a switch that allows you to turn one or both lights on instead of always both.

I really like what you did. Great idea, I may have to steal it.

I like to see more ideas. My short term solution to the bed light problem was to install a couple puck lights on either side, down low so they'd be good for reading light. But I am definitely looking for an elegant solution to the light over the bed. Some kind of indirect lighting, maybe LED strip in a cove or something along those lines.

Wife wanted a LED light over her counter top near the stove in our 295RL. Went to Home Depot and got a 24"L v 1"W 110v LED Motion sensed light bar fixture and mounted under the cabinet and ran the 110v plug thru a small hole(drilled out by me near the back of the slide/cabinet bottom/microwave side cabinet walls corner area - pretty much obscured from view. Behind the microwave in slide cabinet was a 110v single plug recepticle. swapped it over to double and walla... added the connection for the light LED light bar plug! LED light bar only draws .25 amp... so no REAL load on microwave circuit.....

I put this over the Theater seats in our 297RSTS. When relaxing in the evening my wife can read a real book, while I read my Kindle. Put them in put our boat years ago as well. They are very focused and provide great directional light.

One solution would be to install a dimmer before the light.
