    Battery Disconnect Question

When pulling our 337RLS home from storage I forgot to turn on the battery disconnect switch. My question is around the breakaway switch and if it would activate the trailer brakes in case of a separation? Just curious. I know several end devices still remain energized even with the switch turned to off. Not looking to test this.

Brake away switch should be upstream of the disconnect switch for that very reason.

Is it an OEM switch or an aftermarket switch? OEM should still work, an aftermarket put on by an individual may not.

Agree with Hoopy's statement above; the OEM switch leaves a few things powered. This is exactly why, for me, an after market switch was required. A few weeks in storage will drain my battery to the point I can not raise my landing gear. The disconnect switch I put in shuts off EVERYTHING.

In my case, it is impossible to forget to turn it back on, as I am reminded to turn it back on the minute I try to raise my landing gear.

    Keebler,
The switch you added isolates the shore power to the gear as well? This is how I forgot to turn the switch it to "on" as my storage unit has shore power and when connected the landing gear works. Probably not the best for the power converter to power up all the jacks without the battery amps also helping.

The switch I use totally disconnects battery power. My objective is purely to prevent battery drain. I store at a remote lot with no shore power.

If your storage location has power why are you worried about the disconnect switch?Plug the trailer in and leave it powered up.

You will still have 10-15% self discharge loss every month, and more in extreme temps. I had the same issue and just installed a 20 watt solar charging system. Easy, inexpensive and no dead battery surprises.

Will the battery still charge with the battery disconnect off?
