Can't hardly wait for the rally
Lately I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas. Can't hardly wait for the rally to get here. We are taking about a two month road trip to get there and back (to Oregon). Plans are to see a couple of San Francisco Giants baseball games in Chicago and St. Louis. And to see some cousins and friends, some that I haven't seen in over 30 years. And of course to meet all my GD family.

We are also looking forward to meeting other Grand Design owners! We get complements everywhere we take our 29RL.
I question for others out there is we pull ours with a 2013 Chevy 2500HD with the 6.0 Gas if we run 60 we get 8.5 MPG drops to 7.5 at 65-70 I was wondering if anyone is pulling with the 6.6 Duramax 4X4 to see if it is worth the cost to swap out trucks?
Thanks Gary!

The rally will be worth the wait and the drive. Last years was a blast and the Grand Design family is a happy fun bunch.
hydro_man -Gary, We just got the 3500 in Jan and have only towed a few short runs of about 50 miles part surface part hwy and have gotten just shy of 11 mpg @ 65mph. My guess is once we hit the open road that will improve, hoping to get about 13. We hit the road on a 6week trip in a few weeks.Marcy & Gary

Gary (HM)--we get 11+/- with our Duramax at 65. 65 MPH is the sweet spot for max torque for the 2012 @ about 1600 RPM. Not towing we get 21--23 which just surprised me but makes me very happy. Of course, wind and hills impact the #s and as they say "your mileage may vary!" Being able to tow up and down hills and with wind and NOT even have the tranny shift out of 6th gear nor even unlock the torque converter is awesome !........constant (and quiet) towing power with no shifting is hard to beat.

We're looking forward to the Rally as well. Coming from San Diego. We will also be in the first month of our 3 to 4 month US Journey.
My DMax gets close to 12.5 mpg towing since I got it "tuned", no others mods, but as Dan says, wind particularly can reek havoc on mpg. We pulled to Tucson and back last week and had terrible winds both ways and barely managed 10 mpg.Paul "Poppy" and Deb Cervone

We understand getting compliments. Even the UPS driver saw our rig parked out front & loved it. He and his wife went to buy one immediately, but decided they will wait for a bunk house for the kids.

I towed to Yuma and back (to Oregon) in February and averaged 12.1 MPG. I'm happy with anything over 12
