Kits from either company mentioned in the thread are about $2K. Installation varies. If you are mechanically inclined, free. Otherwise I figure between $500 and $1K. If you have a shop do your bearings normally, just time the install around that since the bearings are replaced with the conversion and think of that as offset cost.

I have also been researching the disk conversion kits. We are also considering Stopyourtrailer for our kit as well, and will probably use them for our parts (Phil's been extremely helpful over the phone!). The only issues I've come across when researching these conversion kits are with parts availability and time to ship. Had several retailers (not stopyourtrailer) tell me that Kodiak replacement parts take longer than Dexter and other manufacturers. Asked if this was COVID related and several said sure, but it was that way before as well. Just something to consider for those thinking on using Kodiak parts in their kits.

Garbage info you have received! Dexter pads are special and harder to acquire. The Kodiak was designed on purpose to use regularly available GM pads. Both use industry standard bearings and races. Both use specific caliper mounts. The Kodiak hub-disc is a converted casting (which is why it has tone ring teeth). The Dexter hub-disc cast specifically. 100% of castings are made overseas. You can buy the Kodiak caliper direct, Amazon, eTrailer, Redneck, etc. Dexter from dealers only (drop shipped). Finally, understand it is ALL Dexter now. Kodiak is quietly considered the aftermarket and the Dexter proper OE.

Pads wasn't the issue as I knew they were GM and available over the counter at parts stores. Calipers, disk/hubs replacements were the issue (from what I was told).

Sounds like Dexter, since acquiring Kodiak, may have learned a thing or two and optimizing profits through SKU rationalization. Have to see what the new Dexter catalog brings.

We ordered our 2022 397TH with the 8K axles and disk brakes. Will there be anything else I need to purchase for my 2022 F450 KR that already has all the towing features offered by Ford? It was an expensive option especially on a 3 axle rig but we will be putting a lot of miles on it so I figured it would be worth it.

Possibly. Your truck comes with a trailer brake module that support "electric over hydraulic", however some trucks have had some issues.

There's a module some folks need to install to resolve this issue. I don't recall all the details but a quick Google search could help.

FYI: I had no problems changing the OEM settings on my 2019 Ford Brake Controller to work with Hydraulic over Electric brakes when I upgraded to Disc Brakes.

Great choice to go with Disc Brakes by-the-way !!!

Should be all set with the truck. Just need to change the settings for the brake controller to electric over hydraulic.
