    Install a washer dryer combo

Hi, looking for some suggested pros and cons. We RV in about 8 week stints at a time and after this last trip we grew tired of laundry mats.

I use an electric hot plate and toaster oven for all my cooking so thinking of removing propane stove and installing a combo unit in its place.

Thoughts? Crazy, stupid, smart? Please chime in!

You're not the first person to remove the oven, if you dont use it, I dont see it as a problem. The biggest challenge will be water and drain lines, especially if the oven is in a slide. Also, keep in mind while drying, it will draw about 13A, so be mindful of what else is on that circuit unless you plan on running a dedicated circuit for the washer/dryer. There are certain height requirements for the drain line standpipe, so make sure you look at that ahead of time to ensure everything drains properly.

Since, in the Reflection 303RLS, the stove is in the kitchen slide, I don't think this is a great idea. Besides the plumbing issues (with the potential for freezing with exposed water lines in cold weather and clearance when the slide is pulled in), washing machines do a lot of shaking during the spin cycle. Our washer (in a dedicated closet in the bedroom) will sometimes shake our entire 15,000+ lbs. Solitude significantly. This could be rough on the slide and its mechanisms.

The only drawback I can see is possible resale.

I agree with this, all points have sufficient merit to abandon the idea. Our washer/dryer combo unit just died and we decided not to replace it for a few reasons, but one big one is how much it shakes our Solitude 310GK in the spin cycle. At times it shook enough to walk a water bottle off the dining table, so I too would be very concerned of the impact in a slide.

We recently installed a combo washer/dryer in our 308BHTS and I agree the vibrations from the dry cycle could wreak havoc on a slide system. We ended up installing the unit in our outdoor kitchen. We removed the outdoor fridge, modified some of the cabinetry and plumbed the unit into the outdoor sink supply/drain.

In your 303 you could mount the unit at the rear side of your kitchen island and extend the cabinets, counter top. Water/and drainage are already there. Venting could be a challenge. Just a thought.

Thanks to all who replied with good no, great information. Having a dryer vibrating in the kitchen slide is something I did not think of. Probably be best to continue with laundry mat!

    Thanks again all.

"seasquared" just saw this post as I am looking to install a WD combo. Have you considered one of the mobile portable units that can pull water and drain into your bathroom or kitchen sink??

If you want to catch someone's attention, use "Reply With Quote" (as I have done here) or tag them like this: @Seasquared. Seasquared hasn't been on the forum in a little over a month, so I hope he sees this...

I HOPE I CAN EXPLAIN THIS WELL

We are condsidering it, as owners of a 303RLS.
303RLS owners installed a combo washer and dryer, or stackable at the entrance of the bedroom door.
They closed the door to the bedroom in the hall way and locking the door in place from inside the bedroom that way the washer/dyer could be serviced from inside the bedroom if needed.
To get to your bedroom, you will enter the bathroom and go thru to the door to the bedroom from the bathroom.
It works well and have seen severl people do it.
The water service and drains are right below the floor in the basement. Easy hook up to the existining drain and water supply.

I hope my diagram helps, I am not very artistic
