Furrion hot water on demand 2022 reflection 295rl

We just used our brand new grand design reflection 150 295rl for the first time last week. Loved everything about it except the furrion on demand hot water system. We are experienced 5th wheelers so we know how to use water sparingly. Our previous 5th wheel had a hot water tank.
We found with the hot water on demand system we were wasting too much water waiting for the water to get hot. We set the thermostat at 120. Geting hot water to the kitchen sink took almost 28 seconds.
Any suggestions for not wasting so much water?
Thanks so much for any suggestions.

Our 2019 295RL does the same thing. Not sure there is a simple fix for this. Depending on your hot water line run, and without some constant recirculation of hot water thru the line or maybe another heater under the sink, I think you get what you got.

Have the same issue with our on demand water heater at our lake house. Long runs from the tank without a recirculation line to keep water hot is a common problem.

Good news is our 295RL has been an excellent 5er so far! Cheap because we purchased it pre-covid, lighter than most 30'ers to tow, and roomy to boot! Besides the obvious "normal" RV quirks, we love it. Enjoy yours!

Are you only turning on your hot water tap to start? During our PDI we were told to only turn on the hot water tap, all the way open, till you feel hot water, then you adjust as needed with the cold tap. Hot tap should be open all the way, to ensure adequate flow, thereby keeping the burner going.

Forgive me but wouldn't a recirculating pump plumbed into an on-demand water heater system cause excessive propane usage?

Yup. Unless you could figure out a way to solar heat, you only got a few ways to do it... > electric 110v/12v, solar, or gas. Doesn't even take into play the pump power consumption either for those "boondockers". Not sure the OP is worried about any of that - I believe they just wants faster hot H2O with less grey water waste.

However, one could insulate the recirculating "piping" and cut down on the propane and or electric tank heating usage. And maybe trigger the recirculating pump with a thermostat as well.

The Furrion on-demand heaters use gas only to heat the water, 12-volt for the controller.

    Thank you!
We are picking up our new Refection Fifth wheel 150 295rl, next week and on our current trailer we have a traditional water heater that we can use both gas and elect.

Hey @Heersink, we also have been concerned about wasting water. One tip we saw involved running the hot water tap into a bucket until it gets hot. Then you can use that water in the bucket for other purposes such as flushing the toilet. A more expensive solution is the ShowerMiser which recirculates the water until it gets hot.
