    Anyone Towing a 22MLE with a Toyota Sequoia 5.7L V8?

The 22MLE is our preferred floorplan but am wondering if it is too much trailer for my Toyota Sequoia Limited 5.7L V8. Tow capacity is 7,100 lbs and payload capacity is 1275 lbs. Our trips are short...normally 5 hours max. We also travel light, and will use weight distribution with anti-sway. Is anyone else towing this trailer with a Sequoia? Thanks

You're welcome, Brian. I forgot to include this calculator:

    https://changingears.com/weight-calc...ht-calculator/

I think all the calculators prompt you to include the weight of passengers, fuel, the hitch, gear, etc. Those all have to be deducted from the available payload, too.

Forum tip: Since it's just the two of us on this thread so far it's not an issue but, if you use "Reply With Quote" (to the right of "Reply") as I have here, folks will know to whom you are responding and that person will get a notification.

I used to tow our Imagine XLS 23BHE with our Sequoia 5.7. It's fine, has the power but that thing need an 8 speed transmission. Always hunting for gears. Also, you will most likely be over on your rear axle weight rating. I was but I also didn't use an weight distribution hitch. I tow with a 2021 GMG 1500 AT4 and love it. I've towed with both SUV's and trucks and keep going back to a truck just b/c it's so easy to keep stuff in the bed like a generator, bikes, etc.

I have a 2021 21BHE and pulled it 4,400 miles with my Toyota Sequoia Platinum SUV. It is fine for level towing and slight up hill towing but steep grades really moved the rpm's to over 4,000 (In Wyoming and Montana mountains). I pull over 6,400 lbs loaded GVW, so being that close to the max towing, I have since purchased a 2018 Tundra that can haul 9,800 lbs. So, yes, it can be done and we have done it, the peace of mind with the truck is a benefit.

I tow a 23BHE with a 2017 Sequoia SR5. My trailer is about 300lbs heavier than the 21BHE and it tows alright. I get between 8-10mpg which is kind of a problem and indicating that it is probably at the top of the towing capacity. I live in Colorado and I am frequently pulling over mountains. If you dont mind going slow over passes it works great. I am looking at getting a dedicated tow vehicle like a late model diesel truck because I would prefer more power.
