    Repair Panel

So I have had my first OOOOPSIE!

Crushed the front storage door on my 303RLS.

Anyone know if or where I can find a replacement door and frame? Only the door panel was damaged. the frame around the panel is bent but may be salvageable.

Is this something that an RV wrecker might have available? Can I get one from GD directly? (this is s newer "white" unit)

Please help, I feel like an idiot (which of course I am!).

The panel has a label on it showing lippert part number. You can order it from Grand Design or a dealership. Shipping will likely exceed the price of the part but until you verify you won’t know.

Here is the update on ordering parts for my GD 303RLS

    OK here's the update.

So about the next day (October 14th or so), I got hold of the local GD dealer (A&L RV) in Johnson City TN. (Go VOLS)

After a little tooing and froeing, I was able to speak to the parts department. Please note they can look up the part by number only. In this case they said they wanted the VIN.

Second call, I spoke with another person, and with the part number she looked it up and gave me the skinny.

I gave her my card number, but now she did indeed need the VIN as GD would not sell without it. Ok fair enough, I had to call back with it.

Here is where the story gets interesting. I called back to leave the VIN. They were closed, but I left a voicemail with VIN (a little leery here, but I needed it).

The only problem, and I think this is not just me, is that they could not quote freight, saying it could be as much as $200 on a $250 part!

Anywho.... I waited a few days, actually over a week, and called back to check and see if the part had been ordered. Could NOT get hold of the parts department for love nor money!

I was not frantic, but I was concerned. After hearing many stories of dealerships and how they ignore things, my inner freak wanted to be sure they had ordered it.

So, this past Saturday October 23, I got a call from their sales people, thinking that all my calls were about wanting to buy. I explained the story, and the very nice sales rep said he would try, but since it was the weekend, he didn't know who he could get hold of.

Got a call back from his boss a few minutes later. Same thing, he would try and see if he could get some idea of whether or not the order was placed.

A little while later, the Parts Manager called me to say they had received the part on Friday.

Cut to the chase. They had my back, the part took less than 10 days from order to in parts department. Pretty decent as far as I am concerned.

Now to the freight. $108.62 on a part that cost $248.00 OUCH!

So I think someone is scalping on the freight, but that is not the dealer.

Well done A&L, I will call you again should the need arise!

Try them out, they seem to be good people.

The shipping cost does seem to be a little high, but without knowing the details like type of shipping, insurance, carrier, etc., it's hard to say. It does not look like it exceeds the UPS size or weight limits. I get marine air conditioners shipped to me, 60#, 150 miles for $60.
