Furion 40" electric fireplace gave up the ghost

Had some smoke and really startled us this morning. I shut off circuit breaker and took out fireplace. Thought I might find melted wires or something...so glad that wasn't the case. Don't know if it could have been dust?

What if anything have you swapped out for the Furion? It is a 2017.
    Thanks.

Wasn't sure which section so went electrical. If wrong okay to move.

I take ours out and vacuum it out, then check the wires and plug back in behind the unit for damage each season before we begin using the fireplace. Still working. I would think if you saw smoke that is not a good thing. There is not much in it, a sensor, fan/motor and element is about it. Is yours still working? not sure if you can get replacement parts, owners that have had problems - they got a new unit from Furion and replaced the whole fireplace.

That's a scary thought... did the smoke only stop after you shut it off, or had the unit stopped on it's own? I ask because I have left ours on low during the night if it's really cool, but may not do that anymore.

Shut down on its own. Still scary. No venting directly above so not sure if dust would be cause. I did send email to Furrion. No way to attach pic yet. Will see what happens. It is a charred mess. Not sure how to figure out what happened. Plugged into 50a.

Holy Cow! Something surely went wrong there!
We have left ours running overnight as well on very cold nights, We too will rethink doing that again.

We use a ceramic heater at night for this very reason. Too much can go wrong with an electric fireplace left on vs a ceramic heater.

I would highly recommend getting a Pelonis “brown box” ceramic heater. They are amazing at heat output and rv friendly in size. One or two is all you’ll need and they will outlast your rv.

Just heard back from Furrion. Out of warranty. I said I know but am worried about the possible fire, not that it just stopped working. The offered a 10% discount, no explanation on what or why. I would think they should be concerned.

Oh, and the fireplace is out of stock. Surprise.
