    No more mouse runways in Solitude 310-GK

    With the three wide open vents into the living area from the basement, I just knew that when mice found a way into the basement that the living area would be the next step.
    I used rigid vent screening in the pantry, under the hutch and under the stairs in the shoe cubby. The shoe cubby was the tough one [emoji57]Click image for larger version.

    Had a dang cat walk out from the "shoe cubby" under the steps like she owned the place. We were afraid it had gotten into the basement at a previous campground. Good thing our Springer was sitting in my lap or all hell would have broken loose. One of the camp worker said she was a campground cat that is an expert at getting into Rv's.
    I will try to screen the top of the cubby and the others mentioned to thwart future invaders.
    Thanks for the post.

    A cat! It was a bit of a job working under the stairs. In fact, it wasn't much fun. But I feel better about it!

    While I'm not sure what the rear wall of the hutch facing the basement storage compartment looks like in a Solitude here's a picture of the backside of the hutch in my 337RLS. The whole damn wall is open and the backs of the drawers are even exposed allowing anything that wants into my pantry drawers full access!
    Thankfully I haven't had mice yet but I have had plenty of those damn "stink bugs" get in there. This area will be getting some reworking next Spring!
    Also when I removed the lighting control panel in the side of the hutch there were several live stink bugs in behind the panel, this will require spray foaming from below any voids that go up into the interior walls for wiring or plumbing. And I'll also be spray foaming all penetrations between the underbelly and the area behind the storage compartment wall.

    @DECelt

    Also keep in mind that by adding the wire screening that you are reducing the sq. inch capacity of the return air flow. These screens will need to be vacuumed regularly to avoid having problems with the furnace. I read somewhere on a post on this forum about not blocking those return air vents in any manner with screening or filters.

    Had a problem with a mouse that would hide under the hutch to elude capture. Took the covers off, surrounded the inside heat opening with glue traps, went to bed. In the morning, bye bye mouse.

    Thanks. I am aware and weighed my options. I rarely use the furnace, but I am curious about the effect, if any, of the screening. I will post if I have any issue. I figure that the air spaces in the coroplast have to count for something!

    Photo of the shoe cubby work please. I've worked the two areas you have shown, still planning on pulling the basement panel so I can finish off the shoe areas.

    I've also added copper wool around the plumbing opening in the bathroom vanity.

    Best regards,
    Chris
