Airxcel Thermostat not turning on heater at night

Hi! We took our rig elk hunting up at 10,000 feet altitude for the past 10 days. The thermostat and furnace worked as they should during the day (I.e. once the temperature went below the setting, the fan would kick on first and then about 30 seconds later, the furnace would kick on). However, at night, when it got down below around 25 degrees, the thermostat would turn the fan on, but the furnace did not turn on, and then the fan turned off. We had to manually turn the thermostat off and then manually turn it back on to “heat,” and then It would turn on for that cycle only. Not fun to do all night long when you’re trying to sleep! Once morning came and outside temps increased, the thermostat and furnace would again work normally.

Thoughts? Would a drop in nighttime temperature make the thermostat not turn the furnace on? Help…

    Thanks!

Could it be the drop in temp and elevation messed with the air fuel mixture and would not let the mixture ignite causing a 3 strike lockout? Or maybe propane bottle pressure change?
