Age Of New Tires.

I just ordered and received 5 Sailun 235/85/R16 tires. 5 because I am upsizing from an 80 profile.

3 of the tires have a date code of 3020, the other 2 are 4420.

I'm not tickled that some of the tires are over a year old and 2 are right at a year.

If you ordered or put tires on recently what date codes are you seeing?

Well, all things considered, you might be glad you have older Sailun's. The newer ones from this year are having issues with tread separation. If they were made in China, I'd hang on to them, made in Vietnam, maybe not so much.

I got 4 new Good Year Endurance tires last month and they were 1621.

I ordered my Sailuns (85s) from Simple Tire a couple weeks ago. Date codes 29&30 of 21.

Unfortunately, yes... crossing my fingers.

The recent failures reported were from mid 2020 so I hoping whatever was going on has been fixed. Unfortunately the OP of this thread has tires in that same time frame.

Yeah, I'm probably going to be needing new tires to replace the OEM Westlakes, at some point. I'm hoping they've gotten the problem corrected. I was really happy with the 6+ years I got out of my last set of Sailun's.

I heard back from Simpletire. Believe it or not, they said that they consider any tire less than 4 years old to be a new tire. If I want to return them I'd have to pay the shipping.

I had gone to Tire Kingdom originally and they got me some newer tires but still almost a year old but after all that they couldn't get the old tires off the rims (too stiff they said).

So I am keeping these Sailuns and not buying tires from Simpletire anymore.

I thought SimpleTire "easy returns" allowed return for any reason within 30 days if not mounted... hmmm

You can buy Sailun online through Walmart. It makes returns for any reason much easier. Just bring them back to any Walmart
