    Howdy! From Texas!

We're new owners of a 2020 Grand Design Refection and glad to be part of this forum. We are semi retired and looking for adventures with like minded folks. Yep we are newbies and always looking for solid advice on what to do and not do while our there seeing our beautiful USA!

We do have a question... if anyone out there has connected their Norcold fridge to an inverter so they don't have to travel down the road on LP, we'd love to get the 411 on how they did that... If anyone has advice on how to connect the fridge to an inverter, give us a shout!

RV absorption refrigerators utilize two resistive heating elements when operating on electric-only... high draw and not practical for use with anything but a fairly large battery bank and probably some solar to support it. Many of us old-timers have travelled with the propane on for the fridge for years. If you have a gas tow vehicle, just make sure to turn the fridge off before fueling while hitched up (gas has a lower flash point than diesel).

I see this is your first post - welcome to the forum! You can create a signature block with your RV and tow vehicle information (see mine below). That way you won't have to repeat that information whenever you post or ask a question - and others won't have to ask. You can create a signature by going to:

Forum Actions (on menu bar) -> Edit Profile -> Edit Signature (under My Settings on the left)

Hi Sylmark! Congratulations and welcome. What Rob says! We run the fridge on propane when on the road and it works fine. I just need to remember to turn off when refueling.

Welcome to the group. We also run on propane while traveling.
