    Landing gear lubrication

Reading post on another site about landing gear failure on a cougar and the guy thought lack of lubrication was the main culprit. Fortunately he was hooked up or the results could have been tragic.

Another guy drilled a small hole near the top of his landing gear and added a few squirts of oil to the gears.
He claims it runs much smoother now.

Anybody have experience or thoughts on this?

Thanks I will look again, hoping 303 is the same as 337.

How much and how often do you grease it?

x2...I very much like to know this. Also, what type of grease should be used, so as to not mix incompatible grease types?

    Thanks,

I lubed them once before our first trip with heavy duty wheel bearing/chassis grease and ran them up and down a couple of times while hooked up to the truck.

Thanks Dave, Pumped grease in today, 2 zerts on each leg, and ran 'em up and down like you suggested.
I sure don't want to put in too much grease in, how do you know how much to put in?

    Thanks

If possible can someone please post photos of where the grease fittings are. I don't remember anything in our PDI about greasing the landing gear, or in the owner's manual. If this is a regular maintenance item it should be covered. We're into our 3rd season and this is the first I've heard of this. Thanks if someone can shed some light.

TNFSolitude. I believe the posts refer to the mechanical (gear driven) type landing gear. The Solitude has hydraulic and there are no grease fittings to service.
