Too bad these stupid solid steps don't give you any place to mount a set of those. I dump these things in a New York minute. What a pain. We have those fold outs on the rear door of our toyhauler. Love 'em.

Howard, check out Torklift's website and look at their Smartstep setup. I believe it is made to replace the solid steps. The Smartstep mounts to the floor of trailers that don't have a step well. Great company to deal with, worth a call to them for details. Good luck.

Thank you for the information, but I've seen the Torklift steps and those are waay more money than I want to spend to replace these things. I just don't understand how some people love these things. Seems like you have to reset them for the correct height about every other stop. And a real pain to get out of the way to get into the trailer at a quick stop. I don't understand how they ever thought these were a good idea.

My understanding is the pocket for the foldout steps is there behind the skirt. Would require cutting the skirt but for me it would be worth it. I totally agree with you on the solid steps, I don't have them and never will.

The solid step actually works quite well for our kids. With our Momentum, we have both the fold out and the solid, and the kids do MUCH better on the solid steps. I added the extra handle that mounts to the steps and 4 year old does even better.

Actually I told GD I would NOT order my rig if they put that "stair case" everyone thinks it so great on my rig. So they left them off and put these steps inside the camper and my dealer installed them. I eventually replaced them with Torklift steps.

If you look under your skirting under the entry door you will probably find that the framing to mount fold out steps is actually still on your frame thus making installing fold out steps possible.

I'm definitely going to check into whether the mounting framework is in place. These things are number one on my annoyances list. After reading so many people singing their praises, I thought I was missing something, until I actually own some. IMO, one of the worst ideas to come down the pike in a while.

    Bumping to the top.....

    steps still available....

I can take them to the Tampa show if someone else going there wants them.

I suppose the price gets cheaper and cheaper as time goes on. I want them out of my garage.

That ^^^^ us exactly what I did on my Momentum a couple of years ago. It had the Solid Steps and yes, in behind the skirting was the frame for a set of steps. Lots of measuring, more measuring, then taping off the area and cutting out the skirting and trimming the cutout with some automotive door edge moulding and it looks so close to factory that you wouldn't know it wasn't unless I told you......and I just did! We love the Torklift steps and as a bonus, I sold the Solid Steps on Facebook Marketplace for $300. It's a great upgrade on the steps.
