Looks like another big shift in trailer tires...

Sailun S637 tires being reported pretty commonly with early failure from Vietnam plant... For time being, only coming from Vietnam given the situation with China import.

We already know Goodyear is discontinuing Endurance line to focus on passenger vehicle tires... Pertanent to my need,,
the G614s have hit ludicrous pricing...

Hankook ST01 and TH31 brand new to market so unproven...

Cooper's H-rated seems to be doing OK in couple years out, but I have learned nothing in the pipe for 16" wheels.

Westlakes G-rated perform fine and may be the only reasonable choice...

Anyone have any intelligence on other mainstream options? Interesting to note, Kumho makes one of the best commercial trailer tires in Europe... Seems like with the outrageous number of new campers out there rolling along, someone else would want to get in the game.

Continental has the HTL2 Eco Plus but only down to 17.5 inch. A search for that tire came up with a Transeagle ST for 16". Never heard of them but seem to be a 14-ply commercial trailer tire.

I know you’ve been in on the threads about Sailun and seen my failures , ordered from Walmart.com. We made it home on a set of G614’s. Just south of $1700 mounted and balanced from Discount. Hated to spend that much , but traveling and felt it was the prudent thing to do. I took the Sailuns to a local Walmart today , and they wouldn’t even look at them. Same with Big O in Colorado Springs. My point is , buy a brand you can find on the road , from a company with a reputation of standing behind their product. Good luck.

Take a look at the Carlisle CSL 16. This tire is of commercial grade construction with a rib tread design like the Transeagle and Michelin X.
For me on a 15 inch wheel it’s was short of $1k out the door from Discount Tire. The next step in the Carlisle line up would be the Radial Trail HD and maybe a little easier to get. Both great tires but the CSL 16 would most likely be the best set up for the Solitude.

I had replaced a Westlake that was ruined via road hazard with a Primewell tire from Tires Plus. That's the brand they use around here in Florida on a lot of commercial trailers (Lawn guys, dumpster trailers, contractors, etc.)
But mine only has about 7 months and 2800 miles on it.

Primewell is the inexpensive (cheap) tire also sold at Firestone/Bridgestone stores. I don't think I would trust them on my trailer.

Kind of sad that GY decided to stop production on the Endurance model tire. It became pretty much the go to. Wonder what drove the decision.

I would like to think Sailun is monitoring the new failure rate from Vietnam and listening to customer comments and will make the necessary adjustments to the manufacturing process not to loose customers like they are now. Unless they now think this is an acceptable numbers of failures for number made. A lot of time this boils down to a change in management at the tops levels. Remember the CEO change at Penney`s department store? Said it was going to be shopping reimagined and just about put the company out of business with lost customers from his stupid Millennial ideas. They still haven`t recovered from that. I`m going to need a new set in about 2 years or sooner and hope they get back on track.
Yep like a lot of companies of late they have a good product, good price, lots of customers, so lets change it. I know you`ve seen this with over things you buy.

Thanks, and appreciate your contribution to the discussion.

For me personally, a Carlisle tire will never again be mounted on anything I own.
