Newbie RV owner, Solitude 380FL.

New to the RV ownership world. It is basically my new home. My wife recently passed away and I could not stay on our mini farm on my own. It was a sad day when I sold it but a new beginning. Me and my two dogs are trying to get used to the new lifestyle and it is an adjustment. Have not done any traveling yet. I am not sure how to plan a long trip especially when it is just me and the dogs. Hope to travel from south Georgia to Arizona to visit family and friends.

Welcome, sorry to hear about your wife, but glad you seem positive about your new chapter. I think it would be easier to practice shorter trips and see what stuff you "need" to bring with you. After that, you can tailor it appropriately for longer trips.

My condolences for the loss of your life partner. I agree and STRONGLY recommend a shorter "starter" trip before hitting the long road. There are many great campgrounds in South GA and Northern Florida area. I suggest Petersburg campground in Augusta - on J Strom Thurmond Lake. We were there last weekend. I do not think there is a bad site. Most if not all are lake front ! Another would be Skidaway campground in Savannah (Tybee Island) - the location for the next GD rally next week.

Getting reservations these days can be a challenge, especially during the weekends. The good thing for you, but sad for most of us, is the weekend-warrior camping season is rapidly coming to a close. You may want to checkout Harvest Host and look into subscribing to ALLSTAYS.com to find and get info about campgrounds and other related stuff.
