    Electronics and Automation

I love my 295RL but do have a bit of frustration which I guess is typical with anything that has electronic systems. I am a big fan of automation but I am an even bigger fan of “the user experience” or “KISS” principle.

While digging to find the answer to another Compass Connect question I see the RV has a canbus system and other features. I know very little about all of these systems but the whole idea of having “One App” to control “ALL” of the systems via blue tooth and/or WiFi seems like a smart thing. Now I know that various manufacturers want to keep some things proprietary (no benefit to the customer).

Is there currently a way to control all of the systems, and to add other sensors etc as desired (non oem) and have one app control them all.

Basically I want to add tank sensors etc purchased from whoever that have either blue tooth or WiFi capability, then add them to my app.

With the right system you can. There are 3 types of systems in these, i believe only one of them you can add to....not sure though. Do some digging on Google and you should find a write up from someone way smarter than me that compares all the systems and how to modify them.

Yeah, one of our members has done a lot, but it's not easy or inexpensive with the OneControl. The Firefly system other manufacturers use seems way more adaptable. Personally, I am as home in modern tech as I am in the basics, and for an RV I do prefer what is easily fixed when broken in the middle of nowhere!

The integration of "manual" switches (wireless actually) and the One Control system....

3 wireless switches on the wall by the steps going up to the bathroom/bedroom

And three more wireless switches by the front door of the trailer.....

All six of these added switches are inputted into the Once Control Lighting Modules in the basement....via wireless switches and received by the matching wireless receiver, which in turn is hard wired into the one Control Lighting module.

Receiver modules mounted under the second step going up to the bathroom....

Wiring from the receivers into the Lighting Module, which was mounted upside down from the factory....

C'mon now, you can't tell me you don't love being able to control the awnings and slides with your phone. It's so handy to be able to watch them and clean stuff off as they go in. I use that app all the time! Maybe I'm just not old enough yet to hate technology.

My technology is more reliable, gives me feedback - like it or not, is totally portable, and has cost me a pretty penny! That's 31 years together for you!

Where OneControl annoys me is I am constantly having to switch wifi on and off on my phone when I need to control stuff.

Should be Bluetooth like Mopeka tank level gauges. It just works. No fiddling.

Question......why would you have to switch the WiFi on and off all the time....why not just leave it on?
