Thomas Payne Recliner Pull Cord Stuck in Open Position

Our pull cord on our recliner is stuck in the open position and I've tried pulling it and pushing on the footrest to get it to snap back in, but no luck. We have a 2022 Reflection 320MKS and it has the recliners screwed to the floor. Before I go taking the screws out which will undoubtably turn into an hours long job, does anyone have any recommendations first?

Update: Flipped over the recliner and found that a screw popped off which held a little flipper in place that pops open the recliner. Trying to get this screw back in is going to be a pain as there are multiple metal objects in the way. Going to attempt it now though. Not sure why these recliners need a pull handle instead of just leaning back in it to open it and make things basic.
