Just got back from the last trip of the year. Used the furnace a lot. In the driveway, since it was 35 outside, fired up the furnace to make the final clean out more comfortable. Of course ran out of gas shortly thereafter. Not unexpected, as we did use it a lot over the month we were gone. Took the tanks out, and got them refilled. On restarting, all worked fine. Until I walked by the tongue and caught a slight whiff of propane. Got the soapy water spray bottle out, and at three different hose fitting connections there were bubbles blowing. Yikes! Everything was tight and the leaks were where the hose clamps onto the screw in fittings. Replacement time! Well, it needs the regulator replaced anyway due to the recall...

So - I'd advise on the first startup of the year, fill a spray bottle with a strong mix of dishsoap and water, and spray all connections (at the tank, and anywhere else in the run of hoses) to verify their integrity with the gas turned on. Simple thing to do to guard against a potential serious issue!
