280RS Arrived
Our 280RS arrived at the dealer. They are busy installing upgrades so it will be a week or so before we can pick it up.
Upgrades include an Onan 4kw generator mounted in some type of steel cage up front in the box that houses the batteries, an extra battery, Sumo Springs on both axles, 3-each MORyde X-Factor crossmembers, a hardwired surge protector, and a Furrion 4-camera system.
I’d hoped to get the next size larger generator in order to run both air conditioners. I’m told that it wouldn’t fit so we will be limited to one air conditioner when boondocking. Additionally, there is an 8 week wait for the 4kw generator to arrive. I’m glad we won’t need AC for a while. I’m curious to see what the steel cage looks like. The dealer has them custom made by a local welding shop. I’m told that since they are made for a specific trailer & generator combo they all fit “perfectly”. I’ve rarely experienced perfection. Hmmm.
We plan to take a few local trips this winter to shake everything out. Hopefully we will be able to get deficiencies corrected before our first big trip in May.
