    City Water not filling

    Hi there,

We are new to the group and new to RVing- just bought a 17mke and are driving it home from Tennessee to Santa Cruz, CA.

At our first campsite with hookups, We tried to fill up our water tank with the city water and could not get it to fill. We started with the brass pressure regulator in line but then took it out, still didn’t fill. We had the setting switched to city water.

    Ended up filling via gravity.

Any ideas what went wrong? And how we can remedy this?

    Thanks for your help!

    Stacy and Matt

Curious how you filled "via gravity"?

You don’t want “the setting switched to city water” you want it on “Power fill” (for the Nautilus panel -YMMV).

The Imagine line has a gravity fill port for fresh water. You simply pour water in it and it goes directly in the fw tank.

Did you have running water inside the rig when the hose was connected? There's only 2 setting for the water. City water (which bypasses the fw tank) and fill. When you move that lever, do you fill a little resistance?

Thanks, I didn't know that. Makes a person wonder why Grand Design felt it was necessary to add the complexity of the Nautilus system, and it's myriad points of failure.

City Water - is for using when connected to a water source and sending water to your faucets and toilet(s)

Power Fill - sends water to your Fresh Water Tank to be filled.

    Hope this helps

The Imagine XLS series does not have the Nautilus system. It has a much simpler system. Simply move the blue lever to fill. Click image for larger version.

Do you have valves to turn for selecting either city water or the fresh water tank? If you do it's like someone else already said... you don't want the valve set to city water to fill the tank. You need to have the city water source hooked up but the lever needs to be pointing to the fresh water tank. When the tank is full it should run out an overflow tube, turn on your pump and you should be good to go.

I have wondered that myself. Could it be a labor saving issue in manufacturing? Seems like the manufacturer's cost of the Nautilus System would offset that.
