Yes, any battery with the proper ratings, and size will work.

As far as not running on gasoline, I'm not familiar with that generator and would hesitate to hazard a guess.
Battery power is required to start the generator even when pull-starting it to open the valve that allows gas to flow to the carburetor.

Wow. That IMO is a messed up design. I would not own a portable generator that needed a charged battery to operate.
Perhaps a manual valve could be retrofitted?

Thanks, I have the manual, but it doesn't answer my questions.

Then what's the purpose of the manual pully, if it's not for use when the electronic start won't work because of a dead battery?

Thanks, but I have a feeling the "size" matters because it sits inside of a compartment of a specific size -- unless you're saying that all 12V 7Ah / 20 Hr batteries are the same size..?

Also if you let it sit with gas in it for any long period of time your carb is likely in need of cleaning if it won’t run on gas.

Or maybe a bad spark plug?

I agree, that was why I said "Yes, any battery with the proper ratings, and size will work." "Size" being one of the criteria. You should be able to do a Google search using the battery model number.

OK thanks, I read it that way now.
But I don't see the size of the current battery, or the batteries I'm searching to indicate "size", so not sure how to make the right decision on that.

No model number visible on the battery in the generator?

I would give Champion tech support a call and request battery model number. Their phone number is in the owners manual.
