    My bad, I read the question a different way.

    But yes it does help tremendously to strap our new style awnings down. I strap mine down all of the time... Scroll back to #21 in this post to my picture & comments.

    Oh yes, now I see. So those are bungee cords rather than ratchet straps, that's a good idea. Haven't seen any that big I don't think. Looks like about 8'?

    Nope they are straps but not ratchet straps... I believe they might be called cinch straps. The Bungie is at the bottom and is only about 12" long with both hooks attached to the ground stake and the strap is hooked to the Bungie. This allows me to use the strap to put enough tension on the Bungie to keep everything snug without putting much tension on the awning itself. Click image for larger version.
