    What kind of heat pumps are there? Which one is more suitable for indoor use?

    Ask your local hvac guy if they work on heat pump window units. If they say yes have them check out your unit. Same type of set up, sounds like a temperature setting on the defrost settings. If not set correctly it will make it go into defrost way to early.
