Not sure if I'm understanding your issue correctly. Your currently flushing with fresh water either from the tank or city water connection. Moving to the gray tank (either the kitchen or shower if there are 2) is further detached from each other.

Or am I totally miss understanding what your saying?

Perhaps you didn't read the question that started this thread? You know, the one about what people think about connecting gray water tank to lines for flushing the toilet? I was just responding with my $.02 about using gray water for flushing the toilet...

Head over to a heavy boondocking forum. This is a common mod for those that are exclusively off-grid campers.

I cannot find the right Youtube.
How about a link to it?

Wow ok. I understood the OP question. I was legitimately trying to understand what your issue is with using the gray water for flushing the toilet.

That is a good question, I would assume some sort of back flow preventer along with the switching valve but I'm not sure if that would be adequate. I need to head over to a boondocking forum like Geotex suggested and do some more research. Wouldn't need this very often but I could see a benefit a few times a year for sure

The post mentions using a valve to switch between Fresh Water and Shower Water (they also mention a backflow preventer).

I am not seeing any mention of a Backflow preventer in this thread.... Other than what you just posted.

This post has got me thinking about my situation, we constantly run out of space in our galley tank and I perform the "open both grey tanks" hack to transfer the galley tank into my shower tank.

I am thinking about installing a transfer pump between the two tanks.

I may not do it, but I like the idea.
