Wiring Refrig to run on interverter while driving
I have a 2021 Imagine 2800bh with a Dometic frig gas/elec which I want to install an inverter which will allow me to run down the road without propane.
Has anyone done this? I would like to know your experience with this.

Do a Search for "inverter installation" and you should come up with tons of reading.
Does you fridge not work well on propane?Howard and Peggy

The Dometic absorption refrigerators use two electric heating elements when running on electric only and they have a high current draw. Running that fridge on electric only with an inverter from a battery will drain a battery in no time. You're much better running it on LP while not plugged into shore power.

Generally speaking, people who run their fridge off an inverter have seriously upgraded their batteries.

I think we will use our Titan Solar generator battery which provides enough current to run a household. Hopefully that will take care of it.
Thanks for your quick response.

The battery in the titan has 74 AH available. That will only run the fridge for a little over an hour. Can you use the solar recharge while underway? If so, that would help...... a little.
It has a Max of 80 amps charging. Real life means 40 amps would be what you will see.
In short, the math just doesn't work well.
On edit: Upon further reading I see that ths can be optioned several differeent ways.
So what exactly do you have?
IE" I see that one battery has 2000 WH available. If so, then that should run the frige for 3 hours. But a second battery can be added? Where dos that go? Doe it fit inside the generator? Or is it jumpered to it with wires? IOW, can this second battery be used while underway?
Do you have the second battery? 6 hours of fridge time could be doable, 3, not sp much.At any rate, it would likely mean arriving at camp with a depleted battery(s). How many solar panels do you have? This is important, as I do not think that they can be used while underway, and you will need to recharge in camp, while using power at the same time. You can have up tp 2000 watts for this unit.Last edited by huntindog; 12-05-2021 at 03:28 AM.
