Our sales rep told us three years ago when we bought, to support the edge of the slide if you sit on the couch/lounger when the unit is turtled and you stop for a break. All the supports are designed to work when the slide is extended.
If you want to use the seating with slide in, I like the use of rubber support pads.Judy & Larry

The ones i have are very secured. You need to lift the platform slightly to get them under and stay in place.
