So many problems it's hard to keep track.

I bought my GD Momentum in June of 2020. It has had so many problems I have hardly been able to use it. I now can't get the bedroom slide to go in anymore and it's leaking water again for the third time. I no longer want it in my life anymore. Has anyone ever been successful getting GD to buy back a Trailer/5th wheel? If anyone has used an attorney and been successful can I get their info? I'm in California.

I was successful in getting another brand to trade me out of a unit. It was a process that took over a year. I about broke even, but it was a long year.

Not knowing the issues, I will just say that most of us learn a whole lot about RV systems out of necessity. You bedroom slide is likely a Schwinntek and there are plenty of on line videos to help diagnose the issue. If you aren't a DIY person, then owning an RV is going to be a real battle because competent RV mechanics are either hard to find or booked out for months.

Best of luck if you try to go the buyback route. IMO, it would really have to be a significant issue that is unresolvable by the dealer and then the factory for you to prevail.

Have you had any actual conversations with anyone from Grand Design?

That would be the first thing to do.

If you’re in California you’re in luck since they are one of the few States with RV lemon Law. A quick search found this site. https://nealefhima.com/lemon-law/rv-...nal%20vehicles.

I had issues with our last travel trailer we bought which was a Coachmen RLS313. I swore to them they were going to buy it back and they just kept on swearing to me they would fix it. After 7 years I traded it in on a GD. I pray I don't have the issues like you are having. As mentioned, you will either learn to work on your RV or it will be a long, hard road. Best of luck to you.

Alot of folks like you out there... who get into the RV lifestyle thinking they are getting something that's going to be fun and not require much more than learning to connect/disconnect, tow and keep up with OEM suggested preventive maintenance. As much as it should be true, its not. Unfortunately due to various market events of popularity, demand, poor supply chains, and some unscrupulous dealerships, times are ripe for events like yours. I too know of a friend who has been without her (once) brand new trailer for the past year due to what seems a simple slide issue which cannot be properly fixed by the manufacturer or dealership from which she bought it.

She has been told and promised everything would be fixed multiple times. And each time it's been a disappointment. And now, she doesn't have any real remedy other than to wait for a trailer she now doesn't trust or want. At this point she is no longer even interested in RV camping period given all the issues over this one problem and the fact she has never even camped once in her trailer. So, good luck and hope you find some outcome that works for you.

Here is the shortlist of the thing that has gone wrong. I do know how to work on my RV. I'm very handy, but when you have a warranty you really should let them fix the problems.

Microwave, Four months to get it fixed
Levelers banging, The fix was to ad motorcycle fork oil.
Water leak because of a loose-fitting under the sink. Dripped into the transfer switch and charger and took them out. Didn't replace with real hose clamps and guess what, Leaked again. This time I did myself with real hose clamps.
Water leak to the hose from the outside power washer. I fixed that with a real hose clamp.
Have you ever looked behind the wall of the nautilus system and seen how many of those factory pinch clamps there are just getting ready to leak?
    Trim falling off everywhere.
The refrigerator beeps all the time. Because of a door fault.
Brake failure down Tehachapi grade Highway 58 7% grade, that was fun! The brake wire was grounding out because the insulation was stripped from the wires when assembled.
The right rear brake came apart and burned up after the brake wire was replaced.
Now the bedroom slide won't move by the switch on the wall. It does move if I use the app or control panel. But both the app and control panel are so unreliable I would hate to put my faith in that technology.

When you pay this kind of money you should expect some kind of quality and it just isn't here on this trailer. I don't want to spend my time fixing my trailer all the time when I'm using it.

Yes, I have spoken to Grand Designs in the past and they have tried to help me with my dealer. Things do get fixed but when my trailer is with them more than me it kind of takes the fun out of it. I have a new call into GD but nobody has returned my call.

I would rather not go the legal route, but sometimes that is the only way to get someone's attention.

Definitely not going to get a buy back. Sorry, but lots of that stuff is minor DIY stuff. You can let them fix it, but it's easier to do it yourself. [emoji4]

I would fix the remaining issues or have them fixed under warranty (if applicable) and then know it is done.
Getting another unit during the pandemic will likely have issues and a long wait time as well.

There are other options besides a complete buyback that may allow you to get out of the trailer (ie. Compensation). Being that it was bought in California the law is on your side. Document, document, document. Sometimes an attorney is the only way companies will listen.
