Sailun recall
Copied from SOF
Sailun Tire Americas, Inc. (Sailun) is recalling certain Sailun, RoadX, Blacklion, Blackhawk, and Ironhead brand tires, sizes ST235/80R16 and ST235/85R16 with DOT codes 2020 through 4120. Due to a manufacturing issue, the tires may experience a belt separation. Belt separation could lead to loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. Sailun will replace the tires, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed in December 2021. Owners may contact Sailun customer service at 1-844-281-9696.Jim (& Sharon)

Hopefully they have identified an actual manufacturing issue and not just a period of time with problems.

Let's hope they have the problem solved, and the next batch of Sailun's will be back to their normal high standards.

Recall associated with plant 1YJ.
One report says it is due to a design change: "The defect is associated with a steel belt package design change that could contribute to tread belt separation or tread delamination."
The other attachment says "Due to a manufacturing issue, the tires may experience a belt separation."
They may have made a design change when they changed manufacturing location. Either way, it seems that they know what went wrong and hopefully restored quality back to where it was pre-manufacturing move.New: 2021 Solitude 380FL

Has anyone had their tires replaced under this recall yet?
I checked yesterday and all 5 of my tires are in the recall date code range. My tire dealer contacted their distributor who claims they have not received an “official” recall from Sailun/NHTSA as of yet and will not replace my tires until they do. I have not yet contacted Sailun directly as I want to give the dealer/distributor time to work this out.
Edited to add: I did provide the dealer a copy of the recall notice from the NHTSA website. To me this seems fairly cut and dry.. recall says replace and no charge. However I am not in the tire industry and don’t know how this process works at that level.Steve & Katey
