Its probably the same. Tow and carry arent the same. The hitch on my 311 says 3000lb tow capacity with a 300lb tongue weight (carry) capacity.

Same as a trucks receiver. My receivers rated for 1800 lbs and 20,000 or so towing.

Thanks .. I notice on the newer models , they have a place for safety chains on the hitch, my 2017 has none .. and no wiring for lights, if I wanted to double tow

If the hitch is not rated for towing, it probably won't have the limits posted on it. My guess is the older ones are just for accessories, not towing.

I was just wondering what changes they made to the frame or whatever to make it possible to tow with.

Don't need to do anything to the frame. It's all in the way the hitch is attached to the rear of the trailer. It's possible that an upsize rating for the coupler might be needed to compensate for the added 3000 tow rating but as far as the frame goes there's no stress horizontally on the frame from towing something like a little aluminum fishing boat or a side by side on a trailer.
