If you have the puck system this is what you want:

B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for Ram Towing Prep Package - Dual Jaw - 25,000 lbs
    Item # BWRVK3600

It is a heavy steel beast. It will not fold up on you in a minor accident. Fortunantly it easily breaks down into a couple of more manageable parts.
Because the 1" thick jaws totally encircle the pin, you can see it engaged. So you do not need to do a pull test. Look at the jaws, if they are around the kingpin, then move the lever to the latched position and put it's hitchpin in... Done,

I really like this design because with the level up system on our trailers, it isn't really feasable to do a pull test properly.

"then move the lever to the latched position and put it's hitchpin in..."

If the hitch is well lubed, and moves freely, the lever will move to within an inch or so of the latched position. I just put that in there, so people don't think the lever has to be moved quite a ways to get it latched.

Good point, as the kingpin enters the jaws they will close around it and the lever will move to the latched or almost latched position.

One more detail: Since the jaws are thicker than other hitches, it is best to use a thinner lubeplate.
