Sorry can't help with your inquiry, not familiar with the Port Aransas area, but hear that migration is something else to witness. A little later, latter March into Apr, I hear they come through Nebraska as well, along with the Sandhill Cranes, and spend time in the North Platte and feeding on cornfields before making their final push North.

Whooping cranes are endangered. With a total of about 600 birds in NA, not a huge visual I wouldn't think?
Never knew there was a whooping crane festival though. Interesting.

Pioneer RV park in Port Aransas. This is our winter destination until April and we love this campground. This is our 3rd season here.

I'd call now to see if they can get you in. The premium spots are much nicer and away from the main road (Top of their RV site map) so spend the extra money for a premium spot. There is a boardwalk thru the dunes to the beach, about 100 yards away.

You can actually stay near/on the beach there if you don't need hook ups. It is not advertised but is for real.
Here in NM we have the festival of the cranes, usually, that is.

We stayed at the Port A RV Resort for a month last fall. Good facilities, close to town and the beach.

Thanks luvmyrv I have seen stories about the Sandhill Crane migration. I have no intentions of being in Nebraska in March or April though. I know it would be something interesting to see.
