Interestingly, one dealer told me there is no requirement to change fluid at 30K miles. I know/knew better and challenged him. He was adamant. I don't use that dealer for anything.

Wow, that's just crazy high for the amount of work involved.

Have plenty of cleaning materials on hand, it can get a little messy without a large size drip catcher. But beats paying what they want to do it at a shop. I believe mine took about 9 quarts to fill.

Having a 1/4" drive to loosen the rear bolts by the cross member helps. I used a 1/4" drive and a universal joint to ease the job.

Good Luck Larry, Seems mobile 3309 price is a little lower than the last I paid for it @ $8.55 / qt, Depending on where you get it. Quick check finds it $6.99 / qt from Summit or Speedway. Seen it $91.75 for case of 12 = $7.64

I picked up 3 gallons of the ASRC transmission fluid $152
    , the mopar filter $79
    and mopar gasket $35
    from amazon.
I had to get at drain basin from walmart it holds 20 quarts, and was only $12, and proper funnel for putting the fluid in the dip stick tube, from autozone $12

    total cost so far
    $290

the dealer was quoting me at least $650 but said it could be more.

Ive got the 10mm ratchet on 1/4 wobble extension
19mm socket for the drain plug.
a inch pounds and foot pounds torque wrenches.

any other tips would be appreciated

I paid $85.50 for 12 quarts last May. I put too much in and had to drain some back out again. OOPS. Having the oil filter plug makes changing the engine oil filter a pretty painless, and clean, solution. Just a FWIW.

Sounds like you got it well under control. Just watch that gush of fluid when you pull the filter. I've heard that some people have an issue with the truck throwing a code when you start it up after changing the fluid. I had no problems with that.

I'm glad this thread has popped back up. I went out and looked at my maintenance schedule and 4x4 transfer case oil is 48K. Aisin fluid is 48K, diff oil doesn't have any check marks under mileage - just a footnote (20K if police, off-road, heavy towing, etc.). I was figuring on having them done when I get back this season (34K on TV now) - that would be under 45K. Now, I'm think I'll have it done before we leave since we pulled 12K last year. I change engine oil well before required interval - makes sense to do the same with the rest.

I was inspired by this post to do this service myself instead of shilling out $650 at the dealer. Thanks for the inspiration Steven.

I made a video about how i used a small piece of tubing to extract the back bolts.

    https://youtu.be/W9m6tqgsyHk

I encourage anyone reading this thread to do this service themselves instead of going to the dealer.

You learn a lot about your truck every time you do some maintenance to it.

I also did my CCV filter replacement.

Next time I will do my oil change and fuel filter change myself. Doing this while traveling full time is challenging, getting the parts and finding a suitable place to do the service but, will help me save hundreds of dollars a year on maintenance.

Thanks again for this post Steven.

Just a heads up on the oil filter change: If you pull the filter from behind the front tire, this tool: https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/SER5...&gclsrc=aw.ds& makes it much less messy. I usually don't spill a drop. And a Fumoto valve makes draining the oil also very mess free.
