Working on that project and I will be searching for the same/similar color to match the original countertop.

Yea... Camco sells one with a piano hinge that gets mounted to the under side of the original countertop with the locking support arm under it.

Looks like the only issue would be to ensure both the countertop and extension are the same thickness.

This is what I did, using that bracket listed later in the thread, works great

That's the way I would like to do it only with something that's a closer match to the countertop. The link to those brackets led me to similar brackets that extend 24".
What size is your wooden top and what size brackets did you use?

These are the specific brackets that I used:

The extension is approx. 14" from the top of the arc

That is the picture. As far as I'm concerned, that is the way to mount it. If you are going to go through all the hassle of making the countertop, brackets, reinforcing, etc, why would you not go the extra mile [inches] to make it flush? When I'm camping, I need all the help I can not to spill my beer.

This is on my list of modifications and when it gets to the top, the only thing I would change is to round the corners and use the same/similar counter top material.

I've worked a couple decades working at a very large Mercedes dealership. Many sports players came in. Once you see that side of them, you will not want to watch sports again. All too many are just rich babies. Expecting everything because they are famous. I will not talk about the 'Kid' from Seattle. The biggest baby of them all.

I would rather watch the flies on my burger.
