I have a '20 303rls. Had it just over 2 years. My dealership installed batteries (Interstate) are not holding a charge. Without spending an arm and 2 legs what kind of batteries would any of you suggest? Thanks

Costco 6 volt golf cart batteries are the best bang for the buck.

Before writing the batteries off, there are a few things you can check.

First, check the electrolyte levels. These rigs come with converters made by WFCO which are known for never going into float mode thusly cooking the batteries. Have certainly noticed that on my rig before swapping out for a Progressive Dynamics PD 9260. Every time I checked my batteries, the level was low.

Once you confirm or correct the electrolyte level, check the converter voltage to ensure charging.

Maybe pull the batteries and out and put on a battery charger to see if it will take and hold a charge.

My previous mh had batteries going on 8 years old when I sold it (Interstate GC-2’s)

What is your evidence they aren't holding a charge? Do you leave the trailer not plugged in for a couple weeks? Do you shut off the Battery Disconnect Switch? Do you know if the Battery Disconnect Switch actually disconnects everything? Check the voltage when you're plugged in to make sure the converter is charging the batteries.

Two year old batteries should not be bad already unless they have been discharged too far, too many times. Best check to find out why they are not holding up before you add new batteries and have them fail too.

Two years seems like pretty short life.

After checking the acid level, it might be worth trying to "recondition" (desulfate) them with one of these chargers. I've brought back a few flooded lead/acid batteries with mine.

When I was using 12V LA batteries, 2 years was about all I got out of them. Partly because most 12 volt batteries are NOT true deep cycle, rather a hybrid. If your batteries say Marine anywhere on them, they are a hybrid. Those just do not do well in a deep cycle application. The standard WFCO convertor is junk. They hardly ever go into Float (13.2) or bulk (14.4) they stay stuck at 13.6.

The reason I suggested the Costco 6 volt golf cart batteries is that thay are true deep cycle batteries, and the most affordable way to get true deep cycles... You can use the money saved towards replacing that WFCO convertor. A WFCO is not good for your batteries. It needs to go.

My Momentum 394M (2018 model) has a WFCO 9855 series converter/charger in it and I see the 13.2 float voltage a lot. I'm plugging in 24/7 unless we are traveling or I have the trailer pulled out of the RV shelter to do some work on it. I honestly have found no issues with that particular converter/charger. My first choice would have been a Progressive instead of the WFCO, but like I said, no issues so far. It is working well enough that I will leave it in the trailer when I get done building my LFP battery and use it instead of switching over to a Lithium profile based charger.

The Trojan T105 golf cart batteries could be one of the best. They came out with the original golf cart battery 90 years ago. More than 90% of golf courses use them. We got 2 last year and have been happy with them.

Costco 6 volt golf cart batteries are the best bang for the buck.

2 6V batteries is the way to go.

We have 2 Costco GC2 batteries and are happy with them so far.
