Mattress Replacement
We need to replace the mattress in our 260RL. It is a standard queen. We'd love to know which mattress others have chosen when replacing. There are so many to choose from! Thank you in advance.

If you use the search function (top right) on the forum, you'll find dozens - if not hundreds - of posts on this topic. Bottom line: if you have a mattress in the house you like, put the same thing in the RV. That's what we did and use a Tuft & Needle foam mattress.

We replaced the original mattress in our fifth wheel the same time we replaced our mattress at home. Bought 2 of the same at Big Lots, Serta Perfect Sleeper. That way the bed feels the same at both home and on the road. This mattress was heavier than the original, so we replaced the struts under the bed, also. We replaced the 80 lb. hydraulic struts with 120 lb.

We ordered a 12" memory foam from Amazon and love it, can't remember the brand but "tea leaves" were in the description.
There was a bit of an issue with the install though. After reading the directions, which said it needed several hours to fully expand, I opened it in the garage and let it open up. Several of the reviews mentioned a strong smell when opened, which went away quickly, this also led to the decision to open it in the garage.
The next day, the DW and I undertook the adventure of getting the behemoth of a mattress through the door, down the hall, into the bedroom, and up on the frame. We were both worn out at the end of the adventure.
If you decide on a memory foam, place the box in the camper then open it in place, letting it expand and air out in the camper.2019 2970RL

Also - take note of the weight and the thickness. We got one from Costco, which works great...but the additional weight means opening the bed hatch is now quite a chore (adding gas struts is on the todo list!). And the more than doubling of the thickness makes it harder to get into bed. My DW needs a footstool now....

We threw out the stock POS and never used it!
Replaced with an original Purple (king size for us): https://purple.com/mattresses/purple-bed
Expensive, but like sleeping on a cloud!
You'll need to upgrade the platform struts, as they are pretty heavy.Colin & Tracy

We got an 8” memory foam from Mattress Firm. It was a fabulous upgrade from the one it came with.

We are downsizing the king to a queen. Costco has pretty good prices AND they take the old mattress.
