    What about this tape:

Very inexpensive at Grainger, but I don't know that it would work by itself. I'm going to use this in combination with anti-seize paste for water heater check valve. I'd be interested in any other ideas.

Those sealants won't prevent metal-to-metal contact.

I just commented in another thread about this. I am thinking if I use brass I will use a CPVC adapter between the tank and valve. I’d hate to replace an entire heater because a valve corrodes and freezes to the tank.

Great idea on the CPVC adapter. I can't find a 1/2" male to female adapter, so guess you would have to glue one up.

How about this one? I can't find an actual CPVC-looking nipple but this one says CPVC. I have some time before I have to do this so I am going to keep looking.

You can get the check valves in male to male of female to male; so if worse comes to worse maybe I can get myself to use a brass nipple into the tank. Then I wouldn't care if it fused itself to the tank and I could use a brass check valve.

Or - pex from the tank (right now it is flexible hose) to a valve and pex into the pex where the hose connects to feed the hot water throughout the rig. I suppose there are a few options.

The biggest problem of brass to aluminum isn't that they will fuse together but because they are so dissimilar metals the reaction will cause corrosion. Corrosion is not something I would want to have going on in my fresh water tank. At one of the national rally's in Indiana I asked the person from Atwood in charge of repair about using a brass plug and he said no way to using brass with aluminum.

I got a Camco brass valve. 1/2" female in and male out. I think this solution may work for me:

    https://www.lowes.com/pd/Charlotte-P...NLY/1002984016

Then connect with short piece of pipe to:

My only concern is getting too far out from heater output, and still getting the flex hose to line up correctly.

Galvanized is a metal that is not so much different from aluminum. There could still be a reaction but the chance is very slight.

My project has run into a bump. After buying the CPVC fitting at Lowes I noticed it stated on the package "for cold water use only". I thought all CPVC was rated for hot water use, but after talking with the company that manufacturers the fitting, they say that anytime there are threads on a fitting it will not have a "hot water rating".

Other than taking a chance with the CPVC fitting or going with brass directly to the water heater, looks like another plastic valve is the only option. Unless I re-plumb the line with PEX and do an inline valve (assuming they are available).
